Our Current Mission
Fix Orinda Roads is a volunteer committee of concerned Orinda citizens committed to developing sustainable funding for the City of Orinda’s Road and Drainage Repairs Plan just updated in March 2016. For more information on the committee, please click here.
In 2014 Orindans passed Measure J by a 75% majority which is funding Phase Two of our Road and Drainage Repairs Plan. Combining these monies with those of Measure L has enabled the City to make substantial progress on the repair of our most traveled and worst residential roads. There is still much work to be done in order to reach our goal (per the updated repair plan) of all Orinda streets having a Pavement Condition Index no less than 50.
It is now time to fund Phase 3 of the Road and Drainage Repairs Plan. After considering the results of a 2016 voter survey to assess funding methods, the City Council voted to place a $25 million bond, Measure L, on the June 7, 2016 ballot. The new bond will not replace any current funding source but will be combined with all other City sources. The Measure L bond will also have the same taxpayer protections as Measure J; and, when passed will enable the City to double the number of repair projects beginning in fiscal year 2017 and hire a full time project manager to support the increased work load.
